BN-02
Brick streets and sidewalks lay underneath the asphalt of many streets. Residents would like to have them back.
The removal of the asphalt and the maintenance of bricks are not something that the residents can expect the city to pay for. However, property values are likely to rise on streets where the brick is exposed.
On a block-by-block basis, owners may elect to incur the expense, and have their asphalt streets restored to brick (where the brick is intact).
Downtown Development District and Plan Baton Rouge
Removal of asphalt to restore brick streets - DPW has agreed to add brick crosswalks as part of the North Boulevard widening.
