Observation

Tree roots are damaging sidewalks. Some side-walks are on private property, and owners are not motivated to make repairs.

Discussion

Some sidewalks are on private property because the road was widened (at the owners’ expense) to overlap existing property lines. Property owners lack the means and motivation to repair them regularly. This constitutes a disincentive for living Downtown.

Recommendation

The city should fix these and all broken sidewalks.
